History
A rainy evening in the autumn of 1937 Gunnar Bolin began to make a few sketches. He had an idea. A hatrack that could easily be made out of scrap aluminium. This was the start of the metal foundry Skoglunds Metallgjuteri. During forthcoming decades the company, located in Anderstorp, became synonymous with simple and functional hall interior. Sustainability was not something you talked about at the time, it was something you took for granted.
In 2002 former employee Sten-Roger Bladh succeeded
the rights of the classical products by a hiving off from the
foundry. He continued the traditional and artisanal production in
Anderstorp but with the further ambition to produce new products
under the name Essem Design—still
with function and sustainability
as the foundation of the company.
