Classic family
After almost seventy years, the Classic rack is joined by new family members. The products are designed by the design duo Kauppi & Kauppi, taking their starting point from the classic product while looking towards the future.
It was in 1959 that the Classic rack, designed by Gunnar Bolin, first saw the light of day. Today, the shelf is firmly established as a true classic in Swedish design.
Almost seventy years later, Essem saw the potential in the racks’s elegant yet simple expression. Perhaps there was an opportunity not only to preserve the legacy but also to develop it into a product family?
To bring the idea to life, Essem turned to the design duo Kauppi & Kauppi, known for adapting design languages to the present day. One example of this is the acclaimed Ohm series for IFÖ.
Inspired by Classic’s materials and characteristic curved corners, Kauppi & Kauppi designed a family of products that feel both natural and essential.
