Do it but do it now! Interview with Claudi Böttcher

How do you do to design a welcoming home?

For me, a home feels welcoming when I can get a sense of the person living there and it becomes an extension of their personality. An inviting home is a combination of colours, materials, lighting, and textiles, but for me, it's also about the senses - how the light falls through the window, what scent is in the air, what music is playing, and so on.

What are the best tips for decorating a hallway?

The hallway is the first impression of a home. It should be functional and inviting at the same time. Adding an art piece, your favourite scented candle or a beautiful carpet are usually enough to make it happen.

Claudi chose a Nostalgi hat-/shoe
rack in oak/black and custom length
for her shoes.

You recently redesigned your hallway. What was important to you?

My hallway is quite small – it’s an old building. That's why I was looking for something minimalist that was functional and organised at the same time. Shoe racks and wardrobes can quickly become cluttered and chaotic.

You chose products from the Nostalgi Family. What makes them special for you?

I'm a big vintage fan, so the fact that the design of the Nostalgi series dates back to the 1940s naturally appealed to me. I was also looking for a classic and clean look that I wouldn't quickly ’overlook'.

For the clothes, Claudi chose a Nostalgi 291
in oak/black, with Triangel hangers in black
for a complete look.
